This following is a public service announcement, brought to you by Lucas McKenzie.
Dear readers, please don't be mean to customer service agents on the other end of the telephone. As tempting as it may be, don't be mean to them, because that thang on the other end of the line, might be fine!

Death Adder
I was in the convenience store today looking for some Snapple (Nectarine White Tea to be exact) when I ran across a hellish energy drink, disturbingly named "Death Adder."
You must really be going through something to drink ANYTHING entitled Death Adder. More than what it might do to you, what might you do to others after consuming such a beverage?
Now, I am a fan of the energy drink. I see nothing wrong with the occasional boost needed to sit through your day. But Death Adder? Dayyyum!?

I hope this gets pulled from the shelves soon, but I might buy a can just as a collectible/keepsake. In 20 years, no one will believe this shit really existed.

7 Minutes of Sex
One of my favorite things to do when I go out is analyze couples from afar. I can usually tell how new or old a relationship is, and how long it will generally last.
I can also tell how long that funky little sex will last, honey. Ironically, the couples who hang all over each other in public places are the ones who go home and serve up 7 minutes of some of the most tired, little funky ass sex you will ever witness. Think Kim and Ray-J.
On the other hand, those couples that seem to have a quiet chemistry, an understanding, good conversation and lots of laughter, are the ones who are going home making us all jealous.
So, the next time you're out in public and some couple is slobbing each other down, don't fret, cause if she's lucky, she's about to get 7 minutes of tired thrusting, then he's going to sleep on her.

Mob Wives
I love the TV show Mob Wives, because it gives the whole world an opportunity to see that 'ghetto' comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
On tonight's episode, one of the main character's daughters asked her so innocently, "Mommy, have you ever been in a fight?" *Record screeches to a halt*
The producers were then kind enough to flash back all of the recent altercations this woman has been in. As she sat there with this shook look on her face, I wanted to pull her little girl to the side and say,
"Sweetheart, that's all mommy does. And often. Mommy likes to fight!"
Her mother managed to avoid the conversation altogether, as she got a phone call from her incarcerated ex-hubby.
I guess it's best to let a child be a child as long as they can. In due time, she will discover her mom's thuggery via the internet and endless hours of VH1 playbacks.

Whole Student?
I was having a conversation with my mother the other day, and she was telling me about how the school system is going downhill in the city where I'm from. This didn't surprise me, as I used to teach in that nightmare.
She started telling me about how this one school fired its whole staff: principal, assistant principal, teachers, admin, cafeteria staff, janitors, everybody. They literally fired the whole staff.
It was at this point I asked my mother, "Are they planning on firing the whole student?" She laughed, but I was serious. You wanna sit here and fire the whole staff, when you really need to fire the whole student. They are the ones who refuse to complete or turn in homework. They are the ones who come unprepared to class. They are the ones who are multiple grade levels behind. They are the ones who raise pure hell and won't allow the teacher to teach. People have no idea what teachers are up against these days.
Until they fire the whole student, the system will never change. One day, one of my students told me, "Ms. McKenzie, my homie lived ignorant, he died ignorant, and imma be ignorant, too!" Outstanding. Now you sit here and you pass this standardized test?
Let's give credit where credit is due, and spread that blame proportionately, with a healthy share going to those lazy little bastards, who truly make teaching a miserable endeavor.

Whitney
No comedy here, folks.
Shout out and much respect to one of the greatest voices that has ever graced this lowly little planet. We truly weren't worthy, but you sojourned with us for a short while anyway.
Thank you, Whitney Houston, for your contribution. I literally grew up listening to you. You will be remembered properly by your fans
On a side note, we really have to start treating our living legends and cultural icons better. We lift them up on these pedestals, then seem to take pleasure in tearing them down and running them into early graves. Then we mourn as a nation and have nothing but good things to say about them. Please stop it. Please stop lifting up popcorn artists who have no real talent whatsoever, and disrespecting those who came before these little piss-ants and paved the way. Make them prove themselves!
I'm done.
This blog will take a moment of silence in honor of the legend and the great talent we just lost. Posts will resume on Monday.

Living Rocks
Recently, I was horrified to discover that a type of plant exists called "The Living Rock."
Now, Monica knows that I don't really like organic patterns or fungal things that appear in nature like mushrooms and mold......it's very hard to explain, but I will attempt to do so in a later post. Just understand that it makes my flesh crawl.
At any rate, I was in a plant nursery the other day looking for some bamboo. As I was wandering through the aisles, I came across this disgusting little plant called a 'Living Rock.' What's so gross about it, is that it really does look like a rock, but you're actually a leaf the chose to grow all rock-like and square and brainy looking and just........just fucking wrong. The whole concept is repulsive.
There was a sign on it that said "This Little Plant Will Get A Lot Of Attention!"
Not from me, because seeing some nasty shit like that everyday would surely make me lose my appetite.

The Accidental Racist
I think we all know at least one certified, card-carrying racist. The ones who hate and hate proudly, with zero to no shame. This post is not about them. This post is about the people who are racist, and don't even know it.
Several times over the past few weeks I've encountered The Accidental Racist. These people make statements that they don't realize make them seem like Hitler's 2nd cousins.
For example, today at work, I overheard a woman say to another coworker, "Yeah, it's a great nail shop. Everybody there is really friendly and they do an amazing job. They're all Asian, but they speak really good English. I think you'll like it."
Umm........M'kay......... Soooo.......Uh.......Yeah. How do you even respond to that? Are you suggesting that most Asians who work in nail shops don't speak "good English?" They might speak perfect English, but choose not to do so around your semi-racist ass.
Then there was our guest speaker, who was teaching us about billing and coding. She was trying to get us to understand how sometimes businesses keep P.O. boxes in other zip codes to benefit from higher billing in those areas. Her story went a little something like this:
"Well you know how in California there's a high population of Hispanics? Ok well, this clinic, I think it's name was Clinica del' Rio..... or something like that, I don't remember. Anyway, they had a P.O. box in Beverly Hills, but their practice was 50 miles away! Can you believe that?"
Well, yes I can believe that, but I don't follow how that has anything to do with the high population of Hispanics in California??
I don't even get mad at them. They're baby racists, they don't mean any harm.

Super Bowl XL???
This may be the first year I didn't make a big deal out of the Super Bowl. Just seemed like the same old teams, same old players, same old beer commercials, same same same.
This year, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to go grocery shopping! The way I figured it, everyone would be home shoving various forms of gruel down their throats, getting sloppy drunk, and watching men destroy their bodies on the field. This may be one of the only times the aisles would be clear, and I could do my shopping in peace.
For the most part, I was right! I got in, got out, and was back home before halftime.

Stalker Acquistion
People often ask me why I don't go out much or why I won't go on a simple date from time to time when asked. The main reason is because I'm trying to keep my stalker count low.
In this life, you have to know yourself, and you have to know the effect you have on people. One effect I know for sure that I have on people, is the one that causes them to tell me their life stories within a few short minutes. The other effect I seem to have is one that generates instant stalkers.
Any time I go out with a man I'm not all that interested in, I almost always acquire a new stalker. I think it's the mixture of independence, good breeding, and childlessness that makes them think, "She must be the one!"
Well, I'm not.
The next few weeks are usually filled with frantic texts, phone calls, and Facebook messages, trying to determine "where we stand." Bitch, we don't stand anywhere. It was one date.
That being said, I turn down more than dates than I agree to, because I'm really not trying to add any more stalkers to the roster.
